  • 1990 - 2001 Launched the Developmental Skills Diploma Programme, which was registered and approved by the Bahamas Ministry of Education in 1992, headed by the late Mrs. Agatha Collie; the late Mr. Kenneth Palmer, former CEO of Bahamas Copier; and Mr. Kenneth Francis, C.B.E., former Publisher of The Nassau Guardian (1844) Ltd., along with 164 Bahamian teachers. I successfully organized a literacy programme for 600 young people, many of whom were involved in violent crimes.Through mentoring, providing positive role models and unconditional love, former gang members abjurated their criminal history and were taught educational skills.I adumbrated the consequences of persisting in their current lifestyle choices and assisted them through legal aid and job placement, free-of-charge. For example, one of the most notorious gang leaders of the Raiders in the late 1990s, Kelcy Lundy, took part in the Developmental Skills Diploma Programme. He was employed by Pepsi Cola Bahamas Ltd. (a job that I found for him) and worked himself up to Production Manager. He is now employed as Production Manager at Aquapure Bahamas Ltd. Kelcy is now married and owns his own home and apartments.
Many of the young people who completed the Developmental Skills Diploma Programme have gone on to become productive and successful professionals.I consider this to be one of my greatest achievements and contribution to the Bahamian society.
